National Student Survey 2018 launched

The National Student Survey 2018 (NSS) has been launched at the University and will run between Monday 5th February 2018 and Monday 30th April 2018.

This is the 14th year of the National Student Survey which goes out to all final year undergraduate students at every university in the country. The information from previous years’ survey and that gathered internally through mechanisms including the student representation system facilitated by NUSU, is extremely helpful to Newcastle University in identifying areas where our students wish to see enhancements. Some of the improvements that have been made as a result of student feedback during your time here include additional study facilities through the ‘pop-up’ Library, the opening of the Marjorie Robinson Library Rooms in 2016 and the refurbishment of the Walton Library.

To ensure that NSS results are truly representative of the opinions of students graduating in 2018, it is important that as many students complete the survey as possible. Last year, 68.5% of all final year undergraduate students here at Newcastle completed the survey and we hope that for 2018 you and your fellow students will achieve an even greater response.  As in previous years, we will be running NSS response rate ‘League Tables’ this year. Response rates will be sent on a weekly basis to Schools and the highest scores will be displayed on plasma screens around campus. The subject areas with the highest response rates at the end of the survey period will be awarded cash prizes which students will decide how to spend, with two prize categories (subject areas with fewer than 100 students and subject areas with 100 students or more) and two prizes available within each category (£500 for first place and £250 for second place).

You will be sent an email invitation which will provide you with a link to the survey and full details. Alternatively you can visit the website at www.thestudentsurvey.com and login from there.

Thank you for your support of this important survey and best wishes for success in your final year.
