Participate in a study on tinnitus for cash!

Would you like to be a volunteer in an experiment looking into the effects of tinnitus on how the brain processes changes in sound?

Tinnitus is a common condition, where a person hears persistent ringing in the ears.

I am a PhD student looking to recruit volunteers who have tinnitus for a project exploring a potential biomarker for the condition.

The study involves having an EEG recorded (you wear a fabric cap with some gel inside, so you'll be left with some gel in your hair, but this washes out very easily). During the EEG you will hear different sounds, while watching a subtitled Netflix show of your choice.

The experiment takes a little over an hour, and then there is the setup time, and some questionnaires about your experience of tinnitus. The study takes place in Newcastle University Medical School.

Volunteers will be paid £7.50 per hour.

If you would like to take part, or find out more about the study, please contact me at e.yukhnovich2@newcastle.ac.uk
